Discotek, formed in 2005, specializes in licensing retro titles from the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. They rescue licenses from various companies like Funimation, Viz Media, ADV Films, and more. Their catalog includes popular franchises like Lupin the Third, Digimon, Fist of the North Star, and Sonic X.

They have also collaborated with Crunchyroll on releases like KonoSuba and Kemono Friends. In 2022, Discotek introduced two sub-labels: Nihon Nights for live-action films and Toku Time for Tokusatsu series and films. Notably, they use the SD Blu-ray format to release anime without HD masters.
